A special time with my daughter
On Sundays, I was a teacher in my church’s kids classes. I would always teach the class my daughters were in. I would then have to wait until all the kids were picked up by their parents before taking my kids to the auditorium.
My church rented space in a middle school on Sundays. The main auditorium happened to be the cafeteria. So while my wife fellowshipped, I would hang out sitting at one of the tables. My kids would either stick around me or go play with their friends.
Norah would stay around me at first because she was hungry. I would pack a snack bag for all my kids. It would be crackers, cheese itz, fruit, and water.
On this particular day, I decided to play with Norah using my phone camera. I think it was the first time she saw herself on my phone. She had fun making all kinds of silly faces. She would put some snacks in her mouth, then would try different things with the camera.
Her older sister then came over, and both of them had fun making faces at the camera. Eventually we drew a crowd, with some of the older kids standing behind us.
This is one of the precious moments I had with her. I started to see how funny Norah is. She had a great sense of humor. She loved making her siblings laugh. She was sneaky, and would show you something when you least expected it.
I always wonder what she would be like now. Would she be witty? Would she make funny statements? What would her imagination be like? I wish I could know.
I miss my daughter. I hope to see her again someday. Maybe I will get to hear some jokes from her. Maybe she’ll make me laugh into tears. I can’t wait to hear it. I love you very much, my Norah.
